Charisma and StacyCharisma
1994 International Sporthorse Mare
by Conquistador.

I purchased Charisma from Gail Hildtreth-Whitsett in 1998 as a just started 4 yr. old.  My dream was to be a “hunter princess”.  Eventually I came to the conclusion that my flatwork was sorely lacking, and went in search of “the way”.  I found dressage, or perhaps dressage found me.  Since beginning my sole focus on that discipline in 2001 after a couple of years of dabbling in it, Charisma and I have come a long way together.  She has been a wonderful friend and partner.  To her I owe much.  We have earned our Dressage Canada bronze medal at First Level, and silver medal at Second Level.  In the 2006 show season, we debuted at Third Level, which was a deeply humbling experience from which I have reached a pivotal point in my riding journey.  Charisma has been back to work since weaning Frisco Bay in October, and has thus far been proving herself at the National level, at Second level. I will take my time to bring her back to complete fitness this year, as we pursue various goals that seem reasonable to expect of a mare who spent nearly two years on maternity leave.

friscoFrisco Bay
2008 Westphalian Colt

Frisco is our first foal, approved, passported, and branded by the Westphalian Studbook.  I think we'll quit while we're ahead.  I am greatly enjoying this little man, and look forward to riding him.  I am so grateful to all who made this endeavor possible: my husband, my vets, Charisma's breeders, my devoted friends & family, the barn's owners & staff; all of whom humored me, helped me, and kept me grounded.  The universe has been good to me. I strive to be worthy.

StellaStella
1997 Freisian mare by Doeke
owned by Jennifer Campos.

For SaleStella made the long trek from Holland to Utah in March.  Jennifer has dressage and breeding aspirations for this amazing mare.  Stella has outstanding basic paces, and the dreamiest eyes that ever looked into the depths of your heart.  Stella is solidly Second Level and schooling Third, and is a horse of a lifetime for Jennifer.  We hope she is in foal to Goffert.

RuthRuth
2001 Dutch-bred mare
owned and bred by Patty Arnett.

For SaleRuth is by R. Johnson(G. Ramiro Z.), out of an Arthos mare.  Bred to jump, but this mare is all dressage.  Big & bay, she has “the look” we all want in the dressage ring.  Her basic paces will take your breath away-she is a dancer and has stunning power behind. She needed extra time to grow up, no reason to rush perfection, and so spent a couple of years on the trail and being worked from the ground.  Just getting formal under saddle work, she is proving to have talent for the big time. She is schooling Training level, but after just six weeks, is already learning to lengthen stride, leg yield, and change leads through the trot.  She has a really fun personality-hide your brushes! This mare is for sale.  Great for the ambitious & experienced amateur or aspiring trainer, get her now and train her your way.

Sydney
2000 Swedish Warmblood mare
owned by Cheryl Allard.

Sydney is tall, leggy, elegant, and a very cool ride.  Cheryl has jumper aspirations, but, anyone who rides over fences knows that it’s really all about the flatwork.  Trained in concert with Patty Arnett, I worked on her transitions, acceptance of the contact, and developing a deeper understanding of the aids.  She has gone home to Parowan with mom for the summer, but we hope to have her back.  She is a classy mare with equal aptitude for the dressage ring or the jumper ring.  When Cheryl gets bored of jumping over stuff, we hope to see Sydney in the dressage ring!

UsonUson
2001 Dutch-bred gelding
by Arthos, chestnut with chrome.

For SaleUson.  6 year old Dutch-bred gelding, by Arthos, chestnut with chrome.  Uson is one cool dude.  His natural balance, impeccable manners, and flashy gaits will set him apart.  He is the epitome of all that his sire embodied: brains, brawn, and style. While his eyes & forelock will melt your heart, his work ethic and good sense will win your mind. He is keen to jump, and will have what it takes to get the solid scores in Dressage.  This horse is solid Training Level, and will very soon be ready to show First Level.  His changes of lead through trot, lengthenings and counter canter will impress.   No diva, this horse trail rides, too.  He is owned & bred by Patty Arnett.

Tanner
2002 Draft/Paint Gelding
Owned by Karen Martz

videoTanner is nearly 18 hands, a Draft/paint cross gelding, six years old.  He is owned by Karen Martz.  This is Karen's first horse, and unfortunately, she brought him home and promptly fell off of him, breaking her arm.  I have been working with him since the beginning of September, 2007.  He has a very gentle, loving temperament, though he was fairly green.  Karen plans to mostly trail ride and ride for pleasure, in a western saddle.  I began by working Tanner as he had previously been ridden-no contact.  I spent the first four months just developing his basic knowledge of the aids and helping him regain his fitness. With Tanner's showy good looks, uphill build, and cute movement, I decided he could spend the remainder of his time with me learning how to work on contact.  This will only help him in the future, and the suppleness and submission to the bridle he will develop from this will make him a better horse for Karen.  After just a couple of weeks, he is already showing an aptitude for the work.  I am learning from Tanner than one should never "pigeon-hole" a horse, and learning new ways to work only makes the horse, and the rider, better.  I assumed this horse simply couldn't work on contact, but once he became obedient to the leg, fitter, and more forward in his way of going, it was just a natural progression for him.  This is a prime example of what is the most important basic element to good dressage work: the "forward" concept. While the initial issue with Tanner was the "Whoa" and the direct reason for Karen's fall, in the end, the fix was the "Go"-go to the bridle, respond and accept it.  Rather than overwhelming this horse from the beginning by trying to force him to work like a dressage horse when he'd never been exposed to that, I just simply rode him forward.  Tanner is smart as a whip and learns concepts easily.  I look forward to continuing to develop his submission, suppleness, and self-carriage.  He is a LOT of fun to ride, and I am thankful Karen picked me to train him for her.
